The Senior Anchor: Why Corporate Loyalty Still Matters

The Senior Anchor: Why Corporate Loyalty Still Matters

I want to start this blog with an apology to the Gen Z readers who take offence to some of the things I will be writing in this week’s blog.

The world has changed dramatically in the last ten years, and modern disruption has become the buzzword in many business circles. I believe there is space for modern disruption, but what about the more conservative structure that brings stability and surety to many people and businesses?

PSYCHOLOGICAL SAFETY VS. COMFORTABLE COMPLACENCY

I am a great believer in creating a safe environment where people feel secure, but not necessarily comfortable. Some people become complacent when they are secure in their position, but mostly, people flourish when they know they have some sort of job security.

THE DYING ART OF CORPORATE LOYALTY

I was at an awards function a few weeks ago, and someone received an award for 40 years of service to one company. I immediately said to the person sitting next to me that I don’t think this will happen again in the years to come.

The job market has changed dramatically, and loyalty and perseverance have become a scarcity. As an employer, I find that people move very quickly if things get tough and when they get bored with the current situation.
