Looking Back At 2021: Reflecting on The Big 5

As 2021 comes to an end and we begin to unwind, it’s time to check in on your personal BIG 5: spirituality, physical health, family, career and friendships.

These are the driving forces behind our wellbeing and when our “life tanks” are full, we have the ability to perform better and set clear goals. Here are some of my personal reflections and highlights in 2021.

1)      Spirit: I feel that I managed to handle the pressure at work well this year and that I have inner peace about the future of my business and my family in South Africa. Being able to go back to a full church again is one of many spiritual highlights.

2)      Health: the highlight for me and my family is that none of us contracted Covid this year and that Justine and myself are both double vaxed. I also managed to shrug off the aftereffects of Covid and got my training to levels up where I want them to be.

3)      Family: As a family we had many highlights like a trip to the Kalahari, hunting with my boys. The one stand out moment is that my son John made the WP Team in bodyboarding, and we had a family trip to Port Alfred to watch John compete in SA Champs. He made the semi finals, and it was an awesome experience

4)      Work: I also had many highlights at work but the one that stands out is that I made one of my co-workers Kiki Hanabe a partner in the business. I am super excited about the future of CK Advertising.

5)      Friends: Despite many setbacks and a loss of a dear friend to cancer, 2021 was one where Justine and I really cherished our long term friendships. For Justine’s birthday we went to the Tankwa karoo and we took two couples who have been our friends for more than 25 years.
